SAMPLE LETTER (just copy and paste)

Dear Director Humble,

We all enjoyed a great success in seeing  HB2247 pass legislation. I now want to make sure our voices are not dismissed or ignored. As a mother who uses the services of a midwife I want to see the rights of all women honored. I ask that women wanting a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesareans) be allowed to birth where they want with whom ever they choose. Please change the Licensed Midwife rules and regulations to allow for this option.

Sincerely,

———————————————————————————————————————

The time has come to write your stories. The state of Arizona needs to hear your voice!

See our page “where to write” to find addresses, emails, fax and phone numbers of the AZDHS.

The main point of the letters is to write your personal story. We want good home birth stories and why you choose a home birth. Most have no idea what a home birth is or why anyone would choose to have one. Please include pictures either from your birth or of your baby and family. If your birth story is already written out send it in with pictures and a note saying ALL WOMEN SHOULD HAVE ACCESS TO MIDWIFERY CARE.

Three strategic points to include in your letter :

1. Recognize the passing of BILL 2247

2. What we are demanding – WE ARE DEMANDING THE ARIZONA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH OF SERVICES BRING THE SCOPE OF PRACTICE UP TO THE NATIONAL STANDARD including but not limited to allowing Licensed Midwives’s to care for VBAC’s Twins and Breeches in out of hospital locations.

3. Time frame – WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO THE COMPLETION OF THESE CHANGES TO BE DONE BY JULY 1, 2013

Other than those few items, write your heart out, but be brief!

For those of you who have been denied a home birth due to the current standard of care we need to hear your story. Many of you choose to go unassisted, we especially need to hear those stories. So to our VBAC, twin, and breech sisters, now is your time to shine. Tell everyone your story.

    Dear Representative

I am in support of HB2247. By allowing the AZDHS to do their job in updating the midwives’ rules and regulations, it will only benefit mothers, babies and families of AZ. In addition, it will help the AZDHS and the state by reducing financial and regulatory burden. Please vote yes on HB2247.

    Sincerely,
    Alyssa Long
